Team TMB Announces New Athletes
As the 2009 seniors graduate, 2010 athletes are coming on board to Team TMB to prepare for their final campaigns next season. TMB is proud to announce the addition of Tanner Nehls, Junior Tight End, 6'3" - 220 lbs. and Alex Brown, Junior Olineman, 6'3.5" - 278 both from Travis High School in Richmond, TX. Also joining TMB is Brian Long, Sophomore Defensive End, 6'2", 205 lbs. and basketballer Marc Halderman both from Riggs High School in Pierre, SD.
- Tanner Nehls, Jr. - TE - Travis High School - Richmond, TX
Tanner is a Division I "becoming". Having grown substantially in the last year he looks to be a bona fide Division II prospect but really has no top-side as to what he can accomplish. Being a "late bloomer" has its benefits as Tanner seems determined to catch and pass up some of the early DI prospects. Look for Tanner to make some higher educational Division IAA program very happy.
- Brian Long, Soph - DE - Riggs High School - Pierre, SD
As a just turned 16 year-old the prospects for Brian Long going into his junior yeear are solid. He already stands 6'2" inches and boasts 205 lbs. He is fast, strong and getting bigger and more athletic everyday as he tackles the rigorous workouts of Coach Brady Walz at TMB South Dakota. He is also a hockey prospect as he dominates the high school ice arenas.
- Bruce "Alex" Brown, Jr. - OL - Travis High School - Richmond, TX
When the lights go on on Friday down in greater Houston, Texas look for this young man to make a big contribution to Travis High School's first senior class. Alex Brown is a big force for Randy Cunningham's team. Alex is a projected Division II player right now. We will see where his hard work takes him in the next eight months.
- Marc Halderman, Soph. - Basketball guard - Riggs High School - Pierre, SD
Mark is a special player that has great prospects for the future. Mark plays with the Governors basketball team which took a run into the state quarterfinals this year. Mark has good size and athleticism and as a sophomore looks to have nothing but upside.
Welcome aboard to these fine athletes!
Jeff Yearsley Commits to RPI
Evergreen High School Football and Academic stand-out Jeff Yearsley has committed to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, NY. RPI is one of the world’s most renowned engineering schools and has been ranked in the Top Ten in football in the NCAA’s Division III category the last five years. Jeff will play football at RPI after receiving financial aid from the school which boasts four League Championships (1997, 1998, 1999, 2001), six Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship Game appearances (1992, 1993, 1995, 1997, 2002, 2005) and three NCAA Playoff appearances (1999, 2001, 2003) including a semi-final appearance in the National Championship Playoffs.
RPI also hails such alumni as the original organizer of NASA and leader of several space missions including putting the first man on the moon; the inventor of Guitar Hero III; the inventor of Blackberry; the founder of Texas Instruments; the founder of MFS which became the backbone fiber network for MCI WorldCom and many other prestigious graduates. Yearsley will graduate in May from Evergreen and will attend RPI in the fall of 2009 and will report for football in August.
“I am excited about the opportunity to attend RPI and play football for Coach (Joe) King and the Engineers,” commented Yearsley. “It was a tough choice but RPI was the best fit for my academic and athletic goals.” Yearsley received scholarship offers to play at several schools with the finalists being Occidental College, Claremont University, and Willamette University. He visited approximately a dozen campuses this winter on official visits and has waited until today to make his decision. While the NCAA BCS football teams secure commitments in February, the higher educational schools have to get through March for admissions and financial aid to be finalized.
Yearsley was the recipient of Evergreen High School’s prestigious Mark Taylor Award as outstanding student athlete, finished All-Conference both ways on offense and defense, and was named to the Canyon Courier’s All-Area team. He won the Five Mountain Area School Power-lifting Championship and received All-State honors as well.
