Steven Turpin Is Top Five In Wyoming

Campbell County's (WY) Steven Turpin Rises To The Top

Wyoming is a small state with a big star - Steven Turpin out of Gilette, WY plays for the Camels of Campbell County and he is considered one of the state's top recruits.

One coach from Wyoming recently commented, "Turpin is one of the top five players in the state, if not the top."

He certainly passes the eye test standing at 6'5" and 205 lbs.  Turpin won the National Underclassmen Combine for the Rocky Mountain Region and represented such in Los Angeles, CA this summer where he competed with the nation's best.   What position?  Well, he went there as a wide receiver but Turpin has played CB, OLB, DE, WR and has even carried the ball on the fly sweep several times this season.  He is being recruited as an athlete and has strong looks from the University of Wyoming and Colorado State University as a WR.  However, he is a 'can't miss' guy as he is so versatile he can help a team all over the field and is a true "athlete" to the recruiters.

Not surprising as Turpin is the state's top competitor in the decathlon and boasts a few top vaults in the pole vault.  Turpin has excellent speed having clocked 4.6 electronic in the forty yard dash.  He is very strong naturally and has about 20 pounds he could put on rather easily in college.

Travis Center Alex Brown Getting Noticed

Alex Brown, Converted Guard to Center
At Travis High School in Richmond, TX
Is getting some notice.
The 6 feet 3.5 inch, 268 pounder has been moving up his recruiting stock
This season with solid run and pass blocking.

Travis High School is starting to gain a reputation as one of the best schools for Offensive Lineman in the Houston, TX area.  Of out this stable of lineman has surfaced Alex Brown.  Having suffered an injury in his junior year, Alex has been unnoticed because he has had to prove what he can do this year.  Well, the proof is in as Alex continues to beat his man week in and week out for the Tigers.

Comments on Alex's play and potential below:
October - 2009 - Approved by Travis High Head Coach Randy Cunningham - By Position Coach Matt Farmer:
Alex has adapted well to the move from guard to center. He is continuing to develop an understanding of using leverage and working on hand placement. His technical knowledge of the offense and blocking assignments has become an asset to his position group. He has become the best pass blocker on the unit and will continue to get better in the run game.

May - 2009 - Position Coach Matt Farmer, Travis High School:
Alex will be an excellent find for a college program with the patience to allow him to mature in their program. Coming together as a football player, Alex has the frame to be a competitive college athlete. Sufficient strength numbers show promise for his development in the areas of speed, agility and quickness. Alex is an intelligent player with a good academic record and excellent character.

New TMB Athete - Ben Schumacher Leads Boulder's Undefeated Fairview Knights

Boulder's (CO) Fairview Knights
Ben Schumacher, QB, has led his
team to a 7 and 0 record this season.

TMB is proud to boast and welcome the arrival of Ben Schumacher, QB from Fairview High School in Boulder, CO.  Ben has led the Knights to an undefeated season going into this week's game vs the equally undefeated Fort Collins Lambkins.  Ben is a leader.  He is really fast, very athletic and powerful.  He runs both the double wing and spread formations for the Knights (Coach Tom McCartney keeps opponents guessing).  Ben ran for 101 yards and threw for 153 yards and scored two touchdowns last week in the Knight's 63 - 21 drubbing of Northglenn High School.

"Physically, Ben has excelled in football. Ben is the starting Quarterback and leads the Front Range Conference in all-purpose yards. Ben has thrown for over 300 yards in a game and rushed for 100 plus yards in a game. Ben is on the weight room record board for strength (Bench press, Back, squat and Power clean) and speed (40 yard dash). However, I am most proud of Ben because of his integrity. He is a man of his word. His 'yes' means 'yes' and his 'no' means 'no' and Ben is a balanced person. I believe in Ben Schumacher."
Tom McCartney - Head Football Coach Fairview High School
